A group of cyclists including senior members of the UK African travel industry have embarked on a journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for conservation efforts across the continent.
The Ride4Rangers initiative is being held in partnership with conservation charity Tusk, and aims to cumulatively cover 30,000km, the equivalent of a circumnavigation of Africa.
A peloton of 10 departed from Land’s End on August 15 and will be joined by more than 40 others en-route and others joining virtually from around the world to contribute to the total.
The global campaign has so far raised £55,000, which has been doubled by matched funding from Tusk’s main donor.
In addition to the Land’s End to John O’Groats ride, global Ride4Rangers events and activities are taking place in Europe and nine African nations – Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique.
