Aurora Expeditions creates deposit protection programme

Expedition cruise line Aurora Expeditions has introduced a deposit protection programme to reassure passengers booking for future sailings.

The programme will be applicable on future bookings and those made since July 1, with deposits placed in an escrow trust account until the payment of the final balance 90 days before departure.

Victoria Primrose, global head of marketing, said: “It is a challenging time for the industry and travel lovers alike. We want to make sure our passengers and agents feel as reassured and as comfortable as possible when booking with us moving forward.”

She added: “We are coming into an exciting period for the business with the delivery of our second purpose-built expedition ship, the Sylvia Earle, in October 2021, and with new voyage destinations to be launched in October this year – we look forward to welcoming our passengers back onboard when it is responsible to do so.”

Last month, Aurora Expeditions announced that former Ponant and Paul Gauguin Cruises executive Monique Ponfoort would join as chief executive in October as it planned its fleet expansion.
