Kuoni is to ditch its online discount and create a level playing field between in-house sales channels and third-party retailers.
The operator currently offers a 5% discount for bookings made on its consumer website, and angered agents this Easter when it doubled the discount to 10% on selected properties.
Now it has announced that it will remove the online discount in a “phased approach” starting in late October, meaning there will be no difference in the prices offered through its own website and shops and those offered by its independent agent partners.
Amanda Darrington, national sales manager, said: “With the removal of our 5% online discount our commitment to the trade is stronger than ever.
“We greatly value the continuing support from the trade and trust that this announcement will help our specialist agents to deliver significant growth to their Kuoni business over the coming years.”
Kuoni will continue to offer tactical discounts, but has pledged to make these available through all sales channels.
It is also updating its online Lates Calendar, which will continue to show day-to-day pricing, but will also flag up offers with limited availability.
