Hays Travel opens 50th branch in Scotland

A former Tui agency branch has reopened as the 50th Hays Travel outlet in Scotland.

Two of the new team lost their jobs when the Tui store in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, closed in February.

The staff joined the company within weeks and are now back working in their former agency as part of the Hays Travel network of around 650 shops following the takeover of the former Thomas Cook retail network last October.

Nicola Milne and Ann Pentland both worked at the Tui branch for 13 years collectively.

They are joined by branch manager Karen Erridge, who has 20 years travel industry experience and previously managed a Tui store in nearby Ellon.

She said: “We are so excited to be open and trading in Peterhead – it is really positive news for the travel industry at the moment.

“It’s great that we have been able to invite the girls from Tui, Ann and Nicola, to join the Hays Travel family.

“We can’t wait to welcome our customers through the doors and hopefully meet some new faces too.”

Irene Hays, joint owner and chair of Hays Travel, said: “We are delighted to have opened our first branch in Peterhead and welcomed the team into Hays Travel.

“We revolve around our community and look forward to getting even more involved in the community spirit of Peterhead.”

Hays Travel continues to invest in Scotland, with plans continuing to open a head office for its in-house tour operation, Hays Travel Tour Operations, with 100 new jobs, soon.
