FIRST Choice has called on the trade to promote Christmas and millennium holidays after admitting sales are slower than expected.
Head of marketing Kyle Haughton said there was a false belief that all holidays during the festive period had been snapped up.
“Sales among major operators are slow over that two-week period,” he said.
“Customers and agents alike have a misconception that there is very limited availability and what there is will be at crazy prices. That is not the case.”
Haughton’s comments came at the launch of the operator’s Price Busters brochure, which includes millennium prices of £248 per person for seven nights’ self-catering in Benidorm departing on Christmas Day.
The brochure also features group offers of one free place in seven.
Haughton urged agents to take advantage of the public’s millennium indecision.
” Agents should promote the millennium as the holiday of a lifetime and make extra commission,” he said.
Crystal Holidays has also sought to counter what it describes as ‘millennium lethargy’.
It has cut ski holidays by £100 per couple for departures on December 26, 29 and 30.
The savings are valid for all ski bookings made before October 16.
