CHOICE GETS WIRED WITH IN-ROOM INTERNET ACCESS
Choice Hotels International has joined with a US-based Internet company to provide in-room Internet access for hotel guests. Some 50,000 rooms across the Comfort Inn, Clarion, Quality Suites and Sleep Inn brands will offer guests access to e-mail, shopping, travel, entertainment and news services via the SuiteLink Internet portal. The system will initially be trialled at four of the group’s UShotels.
FOUR SEASONS WEB SITE GIVES AGENTS A CLOSER LOOK
Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has upgraded its corporate Web site to make it easier for agents and meeting planners to use. New image technology allows site visitors to zoom in on more than 700 photographs on the site to get a closer look at guest facilities at Four Seasons Properties around the world. Other facilities include on-line reservations, room descriptions, and highlights of new properties opening. The site attracts 90,000 visitors a month. www.fourseasons.com
BLUE BAY OFFERS SPECIAL RATES FOR TRADE VISITS
Blue Bay Resorts has announced special rates for travel agents to visit any of its six all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, Costa Rica and the Caribbean. Rates start at $30 per person per night in an ocean-view room at the Blue Bay Club, Puerto Vallarta. The rates are valid until December 23, based on double-occupancy, including all meals, drinks and a selection of sports, activities and entertainment.
RENAISSANCE MAKES A TUNISIAN DEBUT
Marriott International will open its first Renaissance hotel in Tunisia in early 2000. The 178-room Renaissance Tunis Hotel will be located 12 miles northeast of Tunis Carthage International Airport and 17 miles from the centre of Tunis. The hotel, which will have direct access to the beach, will offer five restaurants, four bars and an executive lounge, as well as three swimming pools and tennis courts.

The new Radisson SAS Hotel Amsterdam Airport is offering a special introductory rate of £59.30 on weekends and £87.90 during the week, based on single or double-occupancy. The offer is valid until the end of February 2000.
LE SAINT GERAN TO OPEN AFTER $32M REVAMP
Sun International’s Le Saint Geran resort hotel on Mauritius reopens on December 1 after an eight-month $32m revamp. Most of the original guestrooms will be turned into junior suites, of which there will be 140, as well as 12 Ocean Suites and a two-bedroom Royal Villa with its own swimming pool. Its four restaurants and five bars will be remodelled and main public areas refurbished.
