Bucks agent Romano goes under

Travel agency Romano Travel based in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, ceased trading yesterday.

A member of the Hays Travel group, Romano had been in business for more than 30 years.

The agent held an Atol licence and organised a small number of luxury trips alongside holidays to Spain and Turkey.

It ceased trading with no customers overseas and just six forward bookings. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is dealing with claims.

The failure follows that of Romford-based Airborn Limited, which ceased trading at the end of last week although details only appeared on the CAA website on Tuesday.

Airborn was an Abta member and traded under a series of names: Airborn Direct, AirbornEvents, AirbornFlights4Less, AirbornHolidays4Less, AirbornSki, AirbornSport, AirbornTravel4Less, AirbornWorldwide, dialacruise.com, Holiday Hero, Seaborn, Seabourne, Telebreaks, Teleflights, and Teleholidays.

The company does not appear to have offered consumer financial protection. The CAA said “not many, if any” sales were Atol protected.

Abta reported about 1,200 customers were affected, with Airborn having 500 forward bookings. However, clients should still have their flight bookings.
