Man rescued after fall from P&O cruise ship

A man was rescued from the mid Atlantic after falling over board from the P&O Cruises ship Ventura.

Lifeboats were launched in the early hours of Friday morning to recover the man.

The 3,500-passenger ship was on a 16-night re-positioning cruise from Southampton to Barbados.

A P&O Cruises spokesman said: “We can confirm that there was a man overboard on Ventura on Friday. Thankfully he was rescued by the ship’s crew and is in a stable condition.”

The company would not say what caused the fall or whether the man was a passenger or crew member.
