We all had a Finn time at the NZTB launch

THOSE attending the launch of the New Zealand Tourism Board’s new global marketing campaign came away feeling Finn-tastic.

The event for the 100% Pure New Zealand campaign at Vinopolis on London’s South Bank was taking the usual industry course with fine wine and chat, when a strangely familiar Kiwi came into view.

New Zealander Neil Finn, songwriter and ex-lead singer of pop group Crowded House, suddenly appeared on stage and performed several hits including his classic Don’t Dream it’s Over – the theme tune to the NZTB’s new TV ad.

Although, perhaps the board should have chosen Finn’s lyric Four Seasons in One Day to match the changeable Kiwi weather.

When Finn took his exit the entire audience was left standing – but not for long.

With a constant stream of New Zealand wine everyone was a bit unsteady and it took almost an hour for Vinopolis staff to kick guests out.

The launch was a success, but what about Finn’s career?

Backchat returned to the office with tales of a top night only to be greeted with “Who’s Neil Finn?” Either Travel Weekly’s staff are very out of touch with the music scene Down Under or it really is over for Finn.
