Silversea updates onboard entertainment

Luxury operator Silversea Cruises is shifting away from traditional on board production shows to a focus on musical entertainment.

The revamped programme of entertainment covers Motown, Abba and a modern take on classical music in the ships’ show lounges.

Musical selections currently planned for the more intimate Panorama Lounge are Lennon and McCartney on Silver Cloud; Boublil and Schönberg, the creators of Miss Saigon and Les Misérables, on Silver Whisper; Billy Joel’s songbook from the show Movin’ Out, on Silver Wind; and new musicals from the West End to Broadway on Silver Shadow.

A pool deck party covers pop music through the past decade from Madonna to Lady Gaga.

The new entertainment is available on of Silver Cloud, with additional shows opening this month on Silver Whisper, Silver Wind and Silver Shadow. The programme will be expanded to Silver Spirit in March 2012.

Choozi Entertainment, headed by director and choreographer Christopher Childers – who toured with Madonna, Michael Jackson and Cirque du Soleil – and his sister Suzanne Childers, has been employed to provide the new-look shows.

Silversea fleet operations executive vice president Christian Sauleau said: “Our guests expect world-class amenities and entertainment is a big part of their overall shipboard experience.

“By partnering with Choozi, we are elevating the calibre of entertainment and creating variety that will delight our guests and enhance their cruise experience.”
