Repeat sales spell boosted brochure life for Fred Olsen


FREDOlsen Cruise Lines has extended the period covered by its main brochure from a year to 17 months in response to greater demand by repeat customers.



UK sales and marketing director Nigel Lingard said its brochures normally cover a calendar year, but the latest one spans the period from January 2000 to May 2001.



“We are receiving requests from repeat customers who want to know our long-term plans,” he said.



Lingard added that 36% of Olsen’s passengers in 1999 would be repeat customers, compared with only 30% in 1997.



In the latest published brochure, the company is offering a 69-night cruise around South America, which begins and ends in Southampton.



“We have people on our database who say they want to take a long cruise early in the year,” said Lingard.



“We have tried to offer them a product that is not a round-the-world cruise but is a shorter, more unusual cruise.”



Prices range from £7,760 to £20,700 per person for the whole trip.
