Three Independent Travel Experts BDM roles made redundant

Independent Travel Experts, the homeworking division of The Travel Network Group, has confirmed that its three part-time business development manager roles have been made redundant as part of the consortium’s consultation that began at the end of August.

ITE managing director Gary Gillespie said the responsibilities of Lorna Hardy, Pat Curtis and Steve Evans had been “consolidated and centralised” and will be supported by himself, head of sales Kai-Yin Knapp and the division’s marketing team.

Gillespie said in a communication to colleagues: “As I am sure you will appreciate, across The Travel Network Group and independent Travel Experts, we have been constantly looking at ways to protect the business through this Covid-19 period, yet make sure we are in good shape for when the market returns.

“At the end of August, we announced that 30 roles across the business were at risk of redundancy and those affected have been undergoing a consultation process over the last month.

“Today, it is with great regret that I write to inform you that the roles of our three business development managers have been impacted and made redundant.”

He added: “The decision has not been taken lightly as Lorna, Pat and Steve have been a major part of the ITE family for many years and have supported their homeworking teams tirelessly along the way.”

Gillespie said all three already have successful home-working businesses and “will remain with the ITE family”.
