Thomas Cook has agreed to meet with the conciliation service Acas as it looks to resolve its dispute with the Unite union over proposed job cuts at its airline.
Cabin crew members of Unite had voted in favour of industrial action in a consultative ballot after Cook announced plans to cut 250 staff and six aircraft from its fleet as part of a restructure.
Frank Pullman, managing director of Thomas Cook Airlines, said on Friday: “Following our meeting with Unite on Wednesday 9th November, we can confirm that we are committed to continuing with meaningful consultation and are pleased that talks remain ongoing in a bid to reach the best possible outcome for all parties.
“Thomas Cook has advised Unite that it agrees with its request to engage with Acas, and has today made itself available on a number of dates.”
Meetings between the two sides and Acas are likely to take place after Cook’s Group year-end and preliminary trading update on November 24.
