Flights from London are reportedly being dropped by Air Seychelles in January as part of a restructuring which saw the airline recruit its fourth chief executive in as many years last month.
The suspension of flights from Heathrow via Rome and Milan from January 8 follows the withdrawal of a service to the Indian Ocean destination from Singapore on November 24.
The airline, which took on former Kenya Airways chief operating officer Bram Steller as chief executive in October, is winding down flights from Paris and is to withdraw from the route in March.
Steller said: “Our new business strategy focuses on maximizing revenue by ensuring we have the appropriate capacity on all routes and that we are making adequate use of our fleet.”
The airline is looking to co-operate with other airlines with Etihad offering to fly passengers from London and Milan and Air France from Paris.
Air Seychelles has been struggling with from high fuel prices and rising competition, particularly from expanding carriers in the Middle East.
Emirates will be serving the Seychelles 14 times a week from it Dubai hub by the end of the year, bringing its capacity in the market to more than half of Air Seychelles’.
