A gas leak is suspected to have caused a blast at a hotel in Gran Canaria which left at least 17 people suffering from burn injuries. Around 1,000 guests were evacuated from the Cordial Mogan Playa in the wake of the explosion.

A leak from a gas truck was believed to have been responsible, according to local reports. The spa at the hotel in the south of the island was mainly affected leaving four staff and a Norwegian guest badly burnt.
