BRITISH Airways is dropping its daily Heathrow-Basle flights this winter and replacing it with a codeshare agreement with Swissair subsidiary Crossair.
The move will happen at the start of the winter schedules on October 31 and will also mean increased frequency on the route from BA’s twice-daily service to Crossair’s three-times-a-day operation.
BA is understood to be courting Swissair as a potential global-alliance partner, with the Crossair deal seen by industry sources as providing a possible inroad for BA to develop a long-term relationship with the Swiss carrier.
Both Swissair and Crossair denied any suggestion of an alliance with BA.
