Cruise website introduces ‘cruise drive’

Cruisingexcursions.com, a website offering pre-bookable cruise shore excursions, has expanded by offering self-drive options on ports of call.

The commissionable ‘cruise drive’ deals start at £53 a day for a category C car, including unlimited mileage and insurance, initially in Palma, Mahon and Ibiza.

The launch follows the introduction last month of port and city-centre day rooms in hotels for cruise passengers with early disembarkations or late flights.

Company managing director Simon Purchase said: “Cruise drive is the cruiser’s alternative to fly-drive. Cars will be delivered to port for collection so passengers can disembark and be straight off to explore the destination at their own pace, without timetables and without other passengers holding things up. At the end of the day the car is driven back to port for collection, with no transfers involved.”
