Virgin Atlantic starts London-Pakistan routes

New Virgin Atlantic routes from Heathrow to Pakistan took off at the weekend following a connection from Manchester.

The first London-Islamabad service departed with 200 passengers on Saturday and was followed by Lahore on Sunday.

The airline started serving Islamabad from Manchester airport last Thursday.

Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft are being deployed on the routes in a three-class configuration including 31 Upper Class suites, 35 premium and 192 economy seats.

The services will offer connections from US destinations, including New York, Los Angeles, Washington, Boston and San Francisco via Heathrow onwards to Pakistan.

Links from European destinations will be available via codeshare and interline partners.

Virgin Atlantic commercial director Juha Jarvinen said: “Pakistan boasts a huge opportunity for Virgin Atlantic, particularly as it has one of the largest foreign-born populations in the UK and US, and we anticipate the demand to visit friends and relatives will increase as travel starts to recover post Covid-19.”
