Victoria Beckham is to act as an ambassador for VisitBritain’s ‘Great’ international tourism push.
She appeared as part of the campaign launch in New York which saw the unveiling of a specially branded subway train.
The former Spice Girl will shoot a short film in support of the promotion which will feature one of her fashion designs which are handmade in the UK.
She was joined by Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour and British supermodel Jourdan Dunn at the New York event to highlight the importance of the British fashion industry.
Prime Minister David Cameron backed the fashion element of the campaign, describing it as a “hugely important” global industry.
“Our designers have the talent, creativity and skills to rival anywhere in the world. Contributing over £20 billion to the British economy each year, our industry inspires. Fashion is a truly great British success story,” he said.
The Great campaign will target 14 cities around the world to highlight travel to the UK in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year and the 2012 London Olympic Games.
