At least one tourist died and others were left injured in a fire at a hotel in Bangkok.
The blaze at the 15-storey Grand Park Avenue Bangkok hotel broke out late on Thursday night.
Local officials are reported as saying that a female tourist died from smoke inhalation. About 20 other people were said to be injured. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. Firefighters were able to contain it but the smoke spread to rooms.
Cranes were brought in to help evacuate people screaming for help from the hotel, according to reports. The 221-room hotel off Sukhumvit Road was formerly known as the Grand Mercure Park Avenue. The victim’s nationality is as yet unknown.
