THOMSON is to redesign its much-heralded booking system TOP2 after admitting it fails to address the entire group.
The Internet-based reservations system, which took a year to create, has been trialled for the past eight months and was shortly due to be rolled-out to agents.
But a last-minute review of TOP2 is now being carried out because it fails to offer recently-acquired Thomson products including the Magic group and Simply Travel.
Its creators, technology company Intelligent Environments and Thomson, are due to have a meeting this week to discuss the problems. Sources said it will stall the roll-out at least six months but sales director Manuel Mascarenhas refused to give a timescale.
“It is better to put it right now than later,” he said.
