Travel Weekly Group buys Agent Achievement Awards

Travel Weekly Group has reaffirmed its commitment to frontline agents by acquiring the Agent Achievement Awards from Kingley Event Management.

The Agent Achievement Awards were created by Kingley 16 years ago and have become firmly established as the premier awards for UK retail and online travel agents.

The acquisition is Travel Weekly Group’s first since it became an independent business under the ownership of Clive Jacobs in August 2009.

“The Agent Achievement Awards are an outstanding addition to the Travel Weekly Group events portfolio,” said Jacobs.

“They complement our existing events and products perfectly, and the acquisition reflects our long-term commitment to travel sellers across the UK.”

He added: “Over the past three years, we have refined and launched a host of products and events for our diverse readership, ranging from frontline agents to senior industry executives.

“The AAAs are widely recognised as the leading awards for agents, and will allow us to further establish our market-leading position in print, online and face-to-face.”

Michael East, managing director of Kingley and founder of the AAAs, said: “The AAAs have established themselves among travel agents as the awards to win. However, after 16 years I now feel that they would be better served by being part of Travel Weekly Group, which will look to further develop and grow them.”

The 2013 event will once again be held at the Lancaster London Hotel, following the success of the 2012 awards, which attracted almost 500 guests, including 275 agents.
