Former Seabourn chief joins SeaDream

Former Seabourn European chief Andy Magowan is returning to the luxury cruise sector as UK managing director of SeaDream Yacht Club.

He starts in the new role at the two-ship company tomorrow (May 1).

UK director Ian Buckeridge will work alongside Magowan.

SeaDream president Bob Lepisto said: ‘’I am thrilled that Andrew will be leading the charge for SeaDream Yacht Club in the UK.

“He brings with him a proven track record and a wealth of experience within the luxury sector of the cruise industry.

“The UK is a key market for us and Andrew’s appointment confirms our commitment to grow business in the UK.”

Magowan joined Royal Viking Line in 1990 before moving to to Cunard in 1998 as sales director. He became sales and marketing director for Swan Hellenic in 2004 before moving to Seabourn in 2007 as vice president for Europe, Middle East & Africa.

He said: ‘’I am very excited about joining SeaDream and leading the existing, very capable sales team that represents this incredible brand in the UK.

“The product is absolutely fantastic and positioned right at the top end of the ultra luxury market.

Magowan told Travel Weekly that he plans to raise the profile of SeaDream in the UK.

“The UK has huge potential in this sector and SeaDream is committed to working closer than ever before with our trade partners, I can’t wait to get started.

“We need to up the ante and go for it in the UK market. The ultra luxury market in the UK is still growing and performing well and I want to build our presence here.”
