AUSBOUND has put together a selection of three and four-day ground packages in Sydney for the Olympic period of September 15-29 2000.
They include motel accommodation and and four event tickets to a choice of six Olympic sporting events with quotes available on request.
Marketing director Andrew Chapman said he expected the airlines to release their fares for travel to the Games shortly but did not anticipate a substantial hike in rates.
He added: “I don’t expect the Olympics to attract large numbers from the UK but it does give travel agents another month of exposure in selling the traditional peak travel period from October to March.”
Chapman said there are still seats available on Britannia flights to Australia for the millennium period. Return charter fares start from £839 to Sydney between December 1-12, about £400 cheaper than scheduled services.
