Suppliers get together for training workshops

MORE than 70 Australia suppliers will gather at Brighton this weekend for the biggest industry training event put together in the UK by the country’s various states and territories.

It is being staged in conjunction with the Australian Tourist Commission to present products to 200 UK agents and operator sales staff.

The event, called Oz Talk, is being held at Brighton’s Grand Hotel on September 4 and 5.

A spokeswoman for the organisers said: “UK participants include agents from the Aussie Specialists Scheme, independents and those working for the multiples, such as Thomas Cook.

“They each paid £50 deposit on registering, which is refundable if they attend the event.”

On Saturday, the programme includes a series of individual workshops, a treasure hunt, beach barbecue and entertainment. Sunday sees more presentations up to 2pm, followed by lunch and official closure of Oz Talk.

Key regions of Australia – Northern Territory, New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland and Tasmania – will be represented, with 10 areas alone coming from New South Wales where the focus will be on the Olympics and tourism-related products.

ATC market development manager Europe Jonathan Campbell said: “We will have all the suppliers at one event instead of a succession of different state roadshows.”
