Tradewinds has stepped up coverage of the island of Borneo for next year, adding an extra two pages to its Worldwide 2000 brochure.
Contracts manager Franco Sessini said: “Borneo is definitely increasing in appeal. While the island is something of a specialist destination, it has recorded the biggest year-on-year increase within our Malaysia programme.”
Tradewinds positions Borneo as a soft adventure destination, new touring options for next year include a three-day climb up Mount Kinabalu, a two-day visit to the Sepilok orang-utan centre and a two-day Sukau river cruise. “The cruise is a great way of exploring the rainforest, it takes you into the wilds of Borneo and you overnight in a simple river lodge. You feel as if you are in the middle of nowhere,” said Sessini.
The company offers a five-night Borneo holiday from £649 at the three-and-a-half star Holiday Inn Kuching in the province of Sarawak. The price includes flights from the UK. Clients can also combine Borneo with other Asian destinations. A 12-night Discover Sarawak tour costs £799 and includes three nights in Singapore.
