EasyJet plans expansion at Edinburgh

Route expansion is planned by EasyJet from Edinburgh as two more aircraft are to be based at the Scottish airport.

The budget carrier already has five aircraft based in Edinburgh, serving 24 destinations, and carrying 2.5 million passengers in the past 12 months.

Around 100 new jobs could be created due to the fleet expansion, according to local reports.

The choice of new destinations to be served and the timetable for growth is under discussion with VisitScotland and the Edinburgh Marketing bureau.

The planned move follows the airline agreeing to base an additional aircraft at Manchester airport.
