Disney takes on Escape duo

DISNEY’S new in-house tour operator, the Walt Disney Travel Company, has recruited former Universal Studios Escape marketing staff Alasdair Farrimond and Sonja Petch.

The pair were made redundant from Universal, along with sales and marketing director for Europe Jo Rzymowska, a few months after the opening of the company’s new Florida theme park Islands of Adventure (Travel Weekly May 24 and July 12).

Farrimond has been appointed marketing manager at the Walt Disney Travel Company, while Petch will take on the role of marketing and sales assistant.

The operator’s UK director, Andrew Waller, said: “They bring with them a wealth of relevant experience of marketing US attractions in the UK, as well as valuable experience outside the travel industry.”

Rzymowska, who was travel industry sales and marketing manager for Walt Disney Attractions before leaving to join Universalin 1997, said: “I am delighted for both of them.”
