Lucy at Globes 2012The Globe Travel Awards 2013 will be the most spectacular in the event’s history, organisers have pledged after receiving an unprecedented response to the launch of agent nominations.

The Globes ceremony is widely recognised as the biggest night in the travel calendar, and is now the only leisure travel awards event large enough to take place at London’s premier venue – the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane.

Agent nominations were officially opened yesterday, as organisers also announced the inclusion of new categories designed to recognise the best suppliers in the luxury sector and run in conjunction with Aspire Travel Club.

Within hours, there had been an unprecedented demand for tickets and a rush of agents keen to ensure their favourite suppliers were nominated.

Once again, the very best suppliers in the business will be honoured after a rigorous system of nominations and voting from the UK’s travel agent community.

And Mail Newspaper is also continuing its long association with the Globes by presenting seven consumer awards voted for by readers of its publications and websites.

jack Whitehall at Globes 2012Clive Jacobs, chairman of Travel Weekly Group, said: “The Globe Travel Awards continues to go from strength to strength, and the awards are a true benchmark of the very best in our business.

“As the flagship event in the Travel Weekly Group calendar, our commitment to the Globes and their continued success reflects our own growth and unique position as an independent company at the heart of the travel industry.”

Jacobs added: “Every year, we put on a bigger and better show, and I can assure you that the 2013 Globes will continue to raise the bar and further establish their position as the most sought-after awards in the industry.”

The 2013 Globes take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane on January 17.

Innovations for 2013 include five Aspire awards, voted by the members of Travel Weekly’s Aspire Travel Club for luxury agents and suppliers.
