New Celebrity Cruises vessel makes transit from shipyard

Celebrity Cruises is preparing for the debut of new ship Celebrity Reflection after it left its shipyard in Germany.

The fifth and final Solstice-class vessel is being prepared for sea trials and finishing work in Holland ahead of a two-night trade preview sailing from Amsterdam on October 10.

The 3,030-passenger ship will then run cruises from Amsterdam to Belgium and France to Barcelona before crossing the Atlantic to arrive in Miami on December 1.

The inaugural Caribbean cruise is due to depart on December 5 following invitation-only promotional sailings. The new ship will run a series of seven-night eastern Caribbean itineraries from Miami.

The 1,047-foot long, 121-foot wide vessel travelled from the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg along the Ems River in a ten hour transit to the North Sea.

Celebrity Reflection is the largest ship to complete the manoeuvre, travelling at four miles an hour, following its four sister vessels.
