Two terrorism arrests at Heathrow

Two people were reportedly arrested at Heathrow last night on suspicion of committing terrorism offences.

A man and a woman were arrested at 8:30pm on Tuesday after their flight landed at the airport.

The pair were held on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

The arrests are part of an investigation into travel to Syria in support of alleged terrorist activity, the BBC reported.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Counter-Terrorism Command took the pair to a central London police station where they remain in custody.

Two addresses in east London were being searched under the Terrorism Act in connection with police inquiries, police said.
