New Dublin JFK route announced by American

A new transatlantic service between Dublin and New York JFK is to be launched next summer by American Airlines.

The flights start on June 12, 2103, as part of international expansion which also sees a new code share with Oneworld partner Air Berlin between Chicago and Dusseldorf.

New routes will also be opened next year between the carrier’s Dallas Fort Worth hub and Seoul in Korea and Lima in Peru.

Chief commercial officer Virasb Vahidi said: “We continue to strengthen American’s service from our hub markets to enhance our international offerings and better meet customer demand.

“Nearly one-third of Fortune 500 companies are located in our five hub cities, and these new routes will provide more convenient access for our business travellers to key international destinations.”

The growing strength of American’s enhanced network, together with co-ordinated selling efforts with joint business partners British Airways and Iberia, helped drive a 6.5 % increase in transatlantic unit revenue in the first nine months of 2012, the airline said.
