IAG’s positive figures dampened slightly by Sandy

British Airways and Iberia parent International Airlines Group saw equal levels of growth in business and leisure traffic last month.

Premium and economy traffic in October both rose by 3.2% over the same month last year.

Group capacity rose by 2.7% but would have increased by 3.4% without the impact of Hurricane Sandy on transatlantic services.

The number of passengers carried in the month rose by 7.5% to 4.9 million year on year, with the rolling annual figure up by 5.6% to 46.3 million.

BA fully integrated BMI mainline into its operations from the start of the winter flying season. Terminal changes at Heathrow were implemented and BA now flies 20 new routes.

IAG is to provide the latest outlook on likely future performance with the release of third quarter financial results on Friday (November 9).
