Ports Direct increases agent commission

Transfer firm Ports Direct is almost doubling travel agent commission to 15%.

The move up from a base rate of 8% is designed to support agents seeking ways to increase their earnings on ex-UK cruises.

The company provides shared car transfers to and from Southampton, Dover, Harwich and Portsmouth.

It claims to be able to “significantly” reduce costs by providing transportation shared with a maximum of three additional groups. The company guarantees that transfers will operate once a booking is made, even when passenger numbers are low.

Managing director Karl Lapage says “In increasing our commission we are looking to build stronger working relationships with travel agents across the UK.

“This additional incentive is a great opportunity for agents to increase their profits and we want to encourage them to recommend and book our service for their clients.”

He added: “We are also looking to collaborate with more cruise lines to extend the number of shared services we offer. We are 100% committed to continue to offer value for money cruise transfer services and support the UK travel trade in growing cruise sales.”
