AMERICAN Airlines will become the first carrier to offer its customers in-flight digital video players when it introduces the service in its first-class cabins next month.
The new technology has an improved picture sharpness and sound quality compared to normal video players.
Users will be able to choose from 20 CDs showing the latest films.
The video players have already been introduced on American’s Miami to Buenos Aires flights and will be introduced on the carrier’s Dallas/Fort Worth flight from Gatwick and Frankfurt and its Heathrow to Chicago and Heathrow to Miami services, within the next few weeks.
American will then roll out the digital video players to all other first-class and business- class cabins on all routes.
Eventually, the airline will introduce the units on all long-haul economy routes.
