Targeting good management

I write with regard to story (Travel Weekly March 6) when a Going Places member of staff was unhappy with the way the company works.

I used to work for Going Places for 10 years as a manager and was also fed up with the constant pressure to hit Airtours and UKLG targets with no regard as to whether it was suitable for the customer.

If you did not hit your targets, you were expected to attend a meeting to discuss it. This would take place at 8am wherever the area sales manager decided.

To add insult to injury, after all the hard work I had given the company, to the extent Iwas signed off sick with exhaustion, Iwas not even asked why Iwas leaving other than ‘when is your last day’, which sums up the management. During my last week I was issued with a dismissal warning if Idid not hit all my targets.

So Icertainly do not miss Going Places. I am now enjoying a job with a company that does care about its staff – 80% of staff are ex Going Places – some have become excellent managers.

A very happy travel agent

n Travel Weekly would welcome a response from Going Places
