Ambassador Travel ceases trading

Oxfordshire-based Ambassador Travel, a member of Advantage Travel Centres, has ceased trading.

Ambassador Travel ceased trading on Tuesday (January 15). It had six stores across southern England: in Wantage, Gillingham (Kent), Cheam (Surrey), Aylesbury (Bucks), Wells (Somerset) and Lee-on-Solent (Hampshire).

The company also traded as Secret Seychelles and Secret South Africa.

Abta confirmed the failure, a spokesperson saying the association was “actively in discussions with the [company’s] director”.

Advantage is understood to be likely to take over one of Ambassador’s outlets as part of its in-house Advantage Managed Services group.

Ambassador Travel held a Small Business Atol, licensing the company to carry up to 500 holidaymakers a year, but its primary business was as an agent.

The failed company has no association with coach tour operator Ambassador-Travel (Anglia).

Aito Agents chairman Oliver Broad added: “I am saddened by the news and I hope that as a resilient industry we can club together to assist those affected.”
