Virgin Australia’s bid for regional carrier Skywest has won regulatory approval.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission announced today that it would not oppose the proposed acquisition.
The proposed deal for Western Australia-based Skywest is estimated at A$96 million.
Under the agreement, Skywest will become part of the Virgin Australia brand, but would continue to operate under its current Air Operator’s Certificate and its own management team.
Perth-based Skywest operates a fleet of 17 Fokker 50 turboprops and Fokker 100 jet aircraft and recently acquired its first 162-seat Airbus A320.
