First Choice customers injured in Kenya coach crash

Three First Choice holidaymakers were injured in a coach crash in Kenya over the weekend.

Some 15 tourists and one member of staff were said to be on board the coach which was travelling to Mombasa airport on Saturday morning.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said the injuries were not life-threatening. First Choice said the three were taken to hospital.

A company spokeswoman said: “We can confirm there were 15 passengers and one staff member on board; three passengers are being treated for injuries at a local hospital.”

She said the operator was “working closely with our teams in [the] resort and the authorities” to find out what caused the accident.

An FCO spokesman said on Saturday: “Our team in Mombasa is providing consular assistance to the British nationals who have been affected.

“We are working very closely with the tour operator. Some British nationals remain in hospital receiving treatment for injuries, accompanied by their families. The remaining passengers will be leaving Kenya.”
