Women 1st launches guide for women in the workplace

Women 1st has launched a practical guide to supporting women in the workplace.

The Little Book of Diversity offers guidance to businesses in the service industry looking to increase the number of women in senior positions and to help female employees to achieve their ambitions.

The book includes ideas and case studies from companies including McDonald’s, PepsiCo, Shell and IBM.

Sharon Glancy, founder of Women 1st and co-author of the book, said:  “The guide is aimed at both HR professionals and business leaders.

“It is designed to help you wherever you are on your journey to achieving gender balance within senior management teams, whether you are starting out or looking for ideas to improve your own programmes.  We hope we can inspire, encourage and equip you to take action in your own business.”

The book was launched yesterday at the recently-opened Café Royal to Women 1st Top 100 Club members – a network of the most influential women in hospitality, passenger transport, travel and tourism – and other industry leaders.

The keynote address was provided by Josephine Fairley, founder of Green and Black’s Chocolate.
