BAH pursues TIPTO placing

BRITISH Airways Holidays is to make a second bid to join the Truly Independent Professional Travel Organisation, despite its initial application being rejected last month.

TIPTO chairman Warren Sandral said BAH had missed the original deadline for membership but applied to join the group at its first meeting.

The operator had wanted to take the long-haul specialist category, but eight members opposed the move because they regard BAH as a direct competitor. It is now applying for the newly created category of long-haul beach operator at the August 20 TIPTO meeting.

Sandral said: “It would be of benefit to TIPTO to have a brand name like BAH as a member, but it’s up to the group to decide.”
