Tui hotels chief to head Hapag-Lloyd Cruises

The head of Tui AG’s hotels and resorts division has been named as chief executive of wholly owned subsidiary Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.

Hotel and marketing expert Karl Pojer (pictured) will take charge of business development, operations, marketing, sales and distribution, product management and corporate communications.

Wolfgang Flägel will remain in charge of the finance, HR and IT divisions of the German line.

Tui AG chief executive Friedrich Joussen said: “Karl Pojer is one of the most experienced operations experts in our industry.

“He will continue with the reorientation that has already started at Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.“

Pojer, who has been at Tui since 1996, said: “I am pleased that after decades of working in the business and holiday hotel industry on land I can now apply my experience at sea.

“Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is a strong brand full of tradition that we want to further develop in a careful way but in keeping with the times.“
