Thomson and First Choice are raising winter capacity from Cardiff airport by 17% with additional flights to Tenerife and Alicante.
The additional services from November 2013 will also allow for greater flexibility in holiday durations with stays of 10 and 11 nights on offer in addition to standard seven and 14-night packages.
The Tui Travel operators will also be the only ones running flights to Antalya, Bodrum, Corfu, Kefalonia, Faro, Gran Canaria and Sharm El Sheikh from Cardiff.
Thomson and First Choice airport negotiations manager Paul Cooper said: “Adding these new durations and additional flights from Cardiff airport demonstrates our commitment to the airport and our Welsh customer base.
“Following the success of similar routes across a number of regional airports, we know that the demand is there.
“Expanding access to our portfolio of destinations and hotels is a key part of our overall strategy and we hope that this move will enhance the holiday experience for our customers.”
Jon Horne, chief executive of the recently nationalised Welsh airport added: “This announcement is the next step in increasing capacity and the choice of flights available from Cardiff and we will continue working to convince airlines of the great opportunities that exist in serving Wales.”
