Striking workers at Cairo airport dismissed

Egypt’s civil aviation minister has ordered the dismissal of 15 workers following a strike at Cairo airport over pay.

Wael El-Maadawy accused the striking workers on the landing strip of Cairo international airport’s Terminal 3 of instigation and disrupting work operations, the state-owned MENA news agency reported.

The minister also referred 30 other striking airport workers to the public prosecution to be questioned on the protest and its negative impact on the security and safety of airline passengers.

The 30 staff will be blocked from working until the public prosecution finishes its investigations.

EgyptAir switched its flights from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 at the airport yesterday after 120 service workers gathered at the landing strip of Terminal 3 to demand better financial conditions.
