MSC crew member dies onboard ship

An official autopsy is to be carried out on an MSC Cruises crew member who was found dead in her cabin.

Maria La Camera, 29, worked as concierge in the MSC Yacht Club on the line’s newest ship Preziosa. She was found dead on Sunday having suffered a suspected cerebral aneurysm.

A spokeswoman for MSC Cruises said: “It is with deepest regret that MSC Cruises reports that Maria La Camera, a 29-year-old crew member from Positano, Italy, died on board MSC Preziosa on Sunday 14 July despite every effort to save her.

“The ship’s doctor and the Italian Health Authorities believe that a cerebral aneurysm was the cause of death, and an official autopsy taking place today will be able to confirm the exact cause.

“Ms La Camera was working as concierge of the MSC Yacht Club on board MSC Preziosa and had worked with MSC Cruises since 2010. The company’s thoughts and sympathy are with her family, friends, and colleagues.”
