GTMC releases details of autumn conference

The Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC) will hold its autumn conference on October 28 at the Park Lane Hotel in London.

Headline speaker will be scientist,  broadcaster and member of the House of Lords Baroness Susan Greenfield CBE.

The conference is entitled ‘Are We Ready…Continued’, following on from the ‘Are We Ready?’ overseas conference held earlier this year in Barcelona.

The morning session will be on the importance of business travel to the UK economy.

Kaye Ceille, managing director of the Avis Budget UK, will address the delegates on the future of mobility. Other topics will include the HS2 debate and the importance of hospitality to the UK economy.

The afternoon session will cover the topic ‘The Importance of People in Tomorrow’s World’ and will be headlined by Baroness Greenfield.

Specialising in the physiology of the brain, Baroness Greenfield researches the impact of 21st century technologies on the mind, how the brain generates consciousness and novel approaches to neurodegenerative diseases. She will be speaking on the topic of ‘Tomorrow’s People: How Will Their Brains Work?’.

The GTMC’s 2014 overseas conference will be held in Marrakech at the Four Seasons Hotel from June 1-4 with Easyjet chief executive Carolyn McCall as a keynote speaker.
