Thomas Cook chief executive Harriet Green has raided her former company Premier Farnell to recruit a new head of human resources.
Sandra Campopiano joins Cook as chief people officer on September 2 from the electronics supplier where she has held the same role for six years.
News of the appointment came almost exactly a year after Green started working at Cook.
Green said: “I am delighted to welcome Sandra to Thomas Cook. She is a world-class human resources professional, a transformation specialist and strategist who will bring enormous value to our group-wide team.
“Her appointment again highlights the power of our brand and our success in building a superb leadership team.”
She added: “Sandra takes a leading-edge approach to all facets of people development – that means she will be instrumental in helping us build the high-performance culture we have been focused on since I joined the company a year ago.
“She has deep experience of working in a multi-channel environment and developing a people strategy to support the transition of business to the web. As you know, this is one of our key strategic objectives. And she is also imbued with the experience of harnessing technology to bring real innovation to the work of her team.”
Campopiano was voted HR director of the Year in 2010 by HR Magazine and has more than 20 years’ experience in the sector.
She said: “I am delighted to be joining Thomas Cook and Harriet Green, for whom I worked for many years at Premier Farnell.
“Having watched the transformation of Thomas Cook over the past year, I am looking forward to being part of Harriet’s leadership team as we take Thomas Cook to the next level.”
