Dart Group reports ‘satisfactory’ summer trading

The parent company of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has reported “satisfactory” summer trading despite the UK heatwave.

Commenting on current trading, Dart Group chairman and chief executive Philip Meeson said: “Summer 2013 trading in our leisure travel businesses has been satisfactory despite the fine weather experienced in the north this year.

“Our leisure airline Jet2.com has achieved higher yields and load factors than during summer 2012 although operating margins remain under pressure.

“Our package holidays business, Jet2holidays, continues to meet its substantial passenger growth targets and will provide approximately 30% of the group’s summer 2013 leisure travel customers.”

Looking forward, he said: “The coming winter months continue to provide limited opportunity for revenue growth, which is increasingly focused on the summer season.”

Meeson added that the company remained “cautiously optimistic” over profit growth and “currently expects to meet market expectations” for the financial year ending March 31, 2014.

Dart reported that all of the ordinary and special resolutions proposed at yesterday’s annual general meeting were approved.
