ABTA has accepted its first Internet travel agency as a member. The on-line agency, called travelstore.com said the move will increase consumer confidence in buying travel on the Internet.
The Web site was developed as a one-stop centre for the leisure and business markets. It offers flights on 532 airlines and rooms at 40,000 hotels. Site visitors can also become involved in holiday auctions.
Managing director Darryl Mattocks said:”We believe that customer confidence is particularly important with travel where there is a large ticket value and where purchasing involves an emotional buying decision. The ABTA membership gives people added security and comfort.”
An ABTA spokesman said: “We welcome the site and recognise this is a first for our organisation.”
