THE average travel agent can’t advise on insurance, Groupama sales and marketing manager Lloyd Hanks told delegates.
In a stinging attack on high-street agents, he said customers are being ‘led by the nose’ to buy travel products that offered neither the best value or cover.
“I can see the General Insurance Standards Council breaking the travel agents’ hold on selling travel policies because they are not able to sell the benefits and that will be an opportunity for brokers to get into the market,” said Hanks.
